During the war, Canadian sympathizers stole weapons from the arsenal in Elizabethtown and hid them in our barn, which was then a crucial location for the underground network of loyalists and rebels. The barn was used to store and distribute weapons to the American troops fighting in the area. It should be noted that the weapons stolen were recovered and returned to the Arsenal.
Over the years, the barn has fallen into disrepair, and it is in danger of collapsing. This is a significant loss for our community, not just because of its historical significance, but because of the role it can play in the future.
